If it’s a bush experience with the big 5, hosted and run with incredible staff who will do the utmost to make your experience as great as ever then there is no doubt in my mind Waterbuck is the place you’ll find exactly that. 
 
My 7 night experience has been nothing short of exceptional, from the cleanliness of the rooms and the main lodge to the expertise of the rangers on game drives to the INCREDIBLE food preparation daily for me and my partner who is vegan, I can confidently say that should you choose to visit waterbuck reserve in thorny bush you will not have any regrets.

We have just moved on from a fabulous stay at Waterbuck. Roux and Solly make a fabulous team on the game drives, very knowledgable and how Solly spots chameleons in trees when it it’s dark is a mystery. Got all the animals we wanted to see in short order and climax was some female lions with their cubs, Roux manages to get you very close to the animals without frightening them so they are happy to let you observe. Quality of the lodge and food was outstanding and the setting perfect. We stayed for 4 nights and can’t recommend it highly enough.

Every single aspect of this trip was amazing, from seeing giraffes and other animals outside our windows, and getting up close to lions and other amazing animals. The rooms and the lodge were extremely comfortable, and the staff were great. I would 100% go again, 10/10.

My husband and I travelled to South Africa to get married and finished with our honey moon at the Waterbuck Lodge. We stayed for 4 nights and some how, some way the staff made each day and experience better than the last. Marnus our guide, and Aubrey our tracker, were an outstanding team with a wealth of knowledge and experience that made our time one we will never forget! Chantal was so welcoming when we arrived and helped us with any question we had! The cook and her assistant blew our minds with the service and amazing 5 star quality food, presentation, and atmosphere. We are still trying to process the amazing experience we’ve had and still haven’t found the words to properly express our gratitude and satisfaction with this trip. Thank you Waterbuck Lodge and we hope to see you again soon!

We are a family of 4 and we spent 4 nights at the Waterbuck lodge, 8 game drives with the knowledgable Marnus our ranger and Aubrey our tracker. It was an amazing experience, when we checked in a giraffe was right outside our patio munching away, our first evening drive we had a lion roar for us, we saw rhinos at the watering hole, herds of elephants and one in musth, saw a day old baby zebra along with a ‘dazzle’ of zebras, saw hyenas at a buffalo kill, had the privilege of watching a lion pride up close and personal where the cubs were being very playful, the hippopotamus who wanted to get in for a swim but his larger adversaries wouldn’t let him! The lodge and the Waterbuck team was perfect, Chantal greeted us with a smile every time, every meal was well thought out, the desserts were delicious, loved the menu announcement before every meal! I could go on and on, would love to go back and thank you to the team for making this holiday so memorable for me and my family ♥️
